Y-S Unity in the News!
On 02/19/07,
a news story about the name change of our group to Yuba-Sutter Unity was
featured in a big news story in the community section of local newspaper The
Appeal-Democrat.
The news
story is available online for a limited time. You may still be able to view
the story at
http://www.appeal-democrat.com
The news story did an excellent job
of conveying the vision of YSU as an inclusive group with big ambitions
for unity and fellowship in the community. All YSU Board members were quoted
too! And the story featured a photo from YSU Board members Jeffrey Girard and
Tyson Redhouse. We are thankful to the local paper for their inclusiveness as
well as the reporter and photographer for their thoughtful work.
Also, on
02/22/07, a letter to the editor by a Santa Ana woman about YSU was published
in The Appeal-Democrat. The woman thanked the paper for their inclusiveness,
because of their coverage of the YSU name change.

Amicus Book Includes YSU in Donation Program
You
Can Help YSU By Participating!
Amicus Books of
Downtown Marysville has generously decided to include YSU in their list of
organizations to contribute to through their donation program.
How it works is simple: when you donate a
book to Amicus, you can ask them to donate a portion of the money made from
the re-sale of the book to YSU.
What Kind Of
Books Are Best To Donate?
Amicus specializes
in non-fiction. Suggestions: biography, science, literature, history
(especially local), home & garden, health, . . .etc.
How Do You Make A Donation?
Amicus Books
is located at 413 "D" Street, Marysville, CA 9590. They are open from 10:00am
to 7:00pm on most days. See
http://www.amicusbooks.com/
for precise hours. They can be reached at (530) 237-6402 by
phone.
If dropping off
your books would be inconvenient for you, we can certainly arrange a time &
date for your donation to be picked up. Or you can drop them off at a YSU
event. Thanks Amicus!
Amicus also carries
a section of Gay/LGBTI books. Check them out!

Would
You Like to Be a Long-Term
Financial Backer of YSU?
If you are able to
support YSU as a long-term financial backer, to assist with group expenses on
a routine basis, please contact us. Until we achieve nonprofit status,
donations will not be tax-deductible. However, as we move forward keeping up
the work we do and advancing towards non-profit status, we would appreciate
any financial support you could offer.
For those who are
able, helping YSU on a routine, long-term basis will tremendously help us plan
for upcoming expenses. In some cases, reimbursements may be available.
If you are interested, please call YSU Directors Jeff Girard @ (530) 329-3501 or Sally Downie at (530) 671-0630 for details.
Help us keep
reaching for that rainbow above the Buttes.

Gay Friendly
Liberal Talk Radio in Sacramento No Longer
Sacramento's gay-friendly, liberal
talk station AM 1320 KTCT, a former Air America affiliate, appears to have
transformed to a sports talk radio station. We are saddened to learn of this
news considering there are now no mainstream alternatives to the saturation of
conservative talk radio in the region. Hopefully liberal talk radio will
return to the region someday soon.
We were only able to find out
anything about this news in a Google news search which included one petition
site for keeping Air America at 1320 and Sacramento Bee news stories.
